SHAWOOD is a patented construction system of Sekisui House. We call houses designed and built using this post-and-beam system SHAWOOD homes. You can learn more about what makes SHAWOOD different here.

Our patented metal joint construction system uses laminated posts and beams to deliver superior strength, complete structural integrity and efficiency and accuracy in assembly.

All structural framing is refined and assembled in SHAWOOD’s Manufacturing and Quality Control Centre here in Australia, optimising lead times while adhering to strict in-house quality assurance. With production tolerances of only 0.5mm to 3mm on-site, our homes deliver precision in architecture and design – including square-set cornices, expansive void spaces and statement raked ceilings.

SHAWOOD timbers are sourced from sustainably managed forests in Northern Europe, where each tree grows for a minimum of 80 years, allowing it to act as a carbon sink. In construction, the efficiency of our processes and our advanced technology reduce waste, rework and material consumption.

All SHAWOOD homes meet a minimum BASIX standard of 7, with homes such as the SHINKA model promising Net Zero Carbon. Across all SHAWOOD homes, our unique construction technology and methods also ensure that each home is airtight and energy efficient.

All homes feature water reduction storage and technology, wall and ceiling insulation and high-performance glass as standard. SHAWOOD also supports eco-friendly upgrades, such as rooftop solar panels, battery storage and electric vehicle charging.

SHAWOOD is a subsidiary of Sekisui House, and is the division of the company specialising in the design, build and development of timber-framed family homes and communities. When you buy a SHAWOOD home, your contract will be with Sekisui House.

The exact process for buying your SHAWOOD depends on whether you’re buying a completed home or house and land. Whichever you choose, we make buying as simple as possible, with a transparent process, in just steps.

Step 1

Our team will work with you to choose the completed home, or house and land package suited to your lifestyle, taste and desired location. Once you’ve made your selection, a small exclusivity fee of $2,500 will secure your home or lot while we draw up the contracts and you finalise your loan approval.

Step 2

It will take 1-2 business days for us to create your contracts, which we then share with your solicitor or conveyancer. They’ll then contact you to review and sign together. At this stage, you’ll be also paying towards your home building agreement, land contract or deposit, depending on the type of property you’re purchasing.

Step 3

Your dedicated Customer Service Officer will be in touch, the first of many check-ins as through the homebuilding process. If you’re building your home, you’ll settle on the land at this stage, and your lender will authorise construction. We’ll take care of everything else.

Once your home is completed and has its Occupation Certificate, we’ll arrange a settlement date with your solicitor, and you’ll let your bank know to make the final payment. This date is usually within 10 business days of certification.

Step 4

Once your settlement date is booked, we’ll arrange to meet you at your new home to hand over the keys. We’ll give you a detailed tour and handover pack containing all the warranties, instructions and guidance you need.
