A Night Under the Stars: Sekisui House Australia's SleepOut for Homeless Youth
In our second year of partnership, Sekisui House Australia continues to support the Property Industry Foundation's efforts to combat youth homelessness and increase accessible accommodation. This commitment was evident in our enthusiastic participation in the annual SleepOut for Homeless Youth at Centennial Park.
On a night of unpredictable weather, our team, left the comfort of their homes to support homeless and at-risk youth in Australia. The SleepOut, held on Thursday 16 November, is not just an event; it's a vital initiative raising funds for those without a safe place to sleep.
While we participated in many fun activities to pass the time and build relationships with others who have the same values, it was a stark reminder of the harsh realities many young people face every night. While the skies opened up over us during the evening, we banded together, however, for many youths that night, they had to endure the night, alone.
This year's SleepOut was particularly meaningful for us at Sekisui House Australia. We're proud to have raised $3,211, surpassing our initial goal. These funds support the Property Industry Foundation's Haven House Program, which partners with charities to build homes and accommodation for those most in need.
We extend our gratitude to Ben Bradford, Cris Garcia, Erin Harris, Laura Johnson, Melanie Primrose, and Jennifer Chan for their dedication at the SleepOut.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to our colleagues, friends, families, and partners who supported this cause. Your generosity was crucial in helping us exceed our fundraising target.
Reflecting on this event, we're reminded of the ongoing challenges faced by many young Australians. It's a powerful illustration of the impact we can make when we come together as a community.
Looking ahead, we're excited for next year's SleepOut and hope to see even more of our colleagues and industry peers join this meaningful cause.
This experience has reinforced our commitment at Sekisui House to making a tangible difference in our community, one initiative at a time.
