Sekisui House is aiming to implement medium and longer term operational policies, by-laws and systems for the Melrose Park development, which continue to provide benefit to residents long after they move in.
Stage 5 at Melrose Park has been formally enrolled for the WELL for residential program
We are excited to announce that Stage 5 at Melrose Park is the first project in Australia to be formally enrolled for the WELL for residential program. From addressing air and water quality to selecting safer materials, WELL for residential is a certification program for developers, builders, operators, architects and designers looking to transform the way homes are designed, built and maintained to support health and well-being.
We are honoured to partner with the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) as a pilot participant of WELL for residential. Stay tuned for WELL Residence certifications by Sekisui House Australia.
WHAT IS THE IWBI?
The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) is a public benefit corporation and the world’s leading organisation focused on deploying people-first places to advance a global culture of health. IWBI mobilises its community through the administration of the WELL Building Standard (WELL) and other WELL ratings, management of the WELL AP credential, the pursuit of applicable research, the development of educational resources, and advocacy for policies that promote health and well-being everywhere. More information on WELL can be found at wellcertified.com.
WHAT IS WELL?
WELL Building Standard (WELL) is the leading global framework for scaling health across buildings, organisations and communities. Developed over 10 years and backed by the latest scientific research, WELL outlines key building-level interventions and organisational strategies across 10 categories: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind and Community. A WELL program is the application of the WELL Standard and allows organisations to implement WELL in a flexible and customisable way to meet specific health and well-being goals and drive outcomes for their business.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MELROSE PARK?
At Melrose Park, some of the features that contributed to this certification include provisions for active transportation in cycling amenities, designing the building to improve acoustics and noise transmission from outside-in, using materials which have low toxicity and improve the indoor air quality, focusing on good daylight design via window sizes/design, shading design, interior layout design supporting high liveability standards, and careful selection of light fixtures to meet light quality & flicker standards.
